Health Minister Stuart Syvret confirmed at a Social Affairs sub-panel meeting this week that 25 patients who wanted to go – and who were assessed as being suitable for the move – will be transferred ‘case by case’ over the next two months.
He said: ‘We have made this decision, along with the advice of officers, nurses, patients and families, because we feel that there is a pressing need for them to move.
‘These people are patients with complex and significant needs, and their current physical environment is wholly unacceptable.
‘We had to decide whether or not it would be satisfactory to keep them in those conditions when there could be high quality beds available in the private sector, and we decided that it was not.’
