Georgina Louise Bellot overtook four vehicles at the lights at the David Place/Val Plaisant crossroads, narrowly missed a police van and then crashed into another car, legal adviser Robin Morris told the court.

After the crash, she became hysterical and abusive towards the officers who had witnessed her driving.

She bit one of them on the hand and tried to headbutt him, and then bent off handcuffs as she was being driven to police headquarters.

Suspected of driving while unfit, she then failed to give a breath specimen, claiming that she was unable to do so because of an injury to her mouth when her face hit an airbag in the collision, said Advocate Morris.

Bellot (21), of Richmond Road, admitted driving dangerously on 12 May, failing to provide a specimen, assaulting Pc Paul Wilkinson and resisting arrest.

The two occupants of the car that was hit by her Mini had both complained of slight injuries, the court heard.
