Mark Jones saw how much his son Ryan, who has Down’s Syndrome, enjoyed playing in the side at St Paul’s, St Saviour, and decided to use his contacts to give them the trip of a lifetime.
As Mark runs the United Supporters Club in Jersey, he was able to get 30 tickets for them to watch a game against Newcastle United on Sunday 1 October.
Before that, the Jersey Learning Difficulties Football Team will play in a charity tournament against three other sides with learning difficulties at The Cliff – Manchester United’s former training ground.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of some local companies, Mark has obtained £11,300 to fund the trip for the players, whose ages range from 14 to 40.
