Richard Lawrence, who runs the Ivel and Owse Countryside Project in Bedfordshire, said he found two sets of droppings when he visited the Island a few weeks ago.
Foxes are highly familiar to Mr Lawrence, who often comes across them in his work, and he says he is absolutely certain that what he saw were genuine droppings.
He said: ‘I saw the droppings on the north coast and I saw some more at Portelet Common.
I remember where it was because I wrote it down.
I found them very interesting so I dissected them, and it looked to me like the foxes had been eating rabbits.’
