The post, advertised through local consultancy Hassell Blampied Associates, has been published this week in the Financial Times as well as in the Jersey Evening Post.

The job was created in April 2002 when Mr Harris moved from the private sector to take up the post of strategic adviser to the States on finance industry matters.

Since then he has established the role working with Colin Powell, adviser to the States on international affairs, including continuing negotiations with other countries over international tax agreements.

Specifically Mr Harris has been heavily involved in talks with the UK Treasury and other European Union authorities over the EU Code of Conduct on business taxation.
