This week the European Regions Airline Association adopted a resolution encouraging all airlines to publish a new ‘plain fares’ logo on their websites, subject to them meeting strict criteria.
The resolution follows the introduction in June last year of Air Southwest’s ‘Fares Fair’ campaign.
The airline, which is a member of ERA, was the first airline in the UK to include all taxes and airport charges in all fares that it advertises to customers on its website.
Mike Coombes, commercial general manager at Air Southwest, said: ‘We took the decision over a year ago to introduce our ”Fares Fare” policy and we led the low fares industry in the UK by being the first to have this level of transparency across all our fares.
‘ERA’s campaign will be welcomed by airline customers across Europe because they need to be confident that when they book a flight online the price they are quoted is what they actually pay.
