Freddie calls for a taxi

Ray Carcel was amazed when the bird first flew past his car.

He called to it and it came and sat on his shoulder and nibbled his ear.

The cheeky budgie is now being pampered by Ray and his wife Monique at their home.

He came across the green and yellow budgie last Tuesday when driving near St Matthew’s Catholic Church in St Peter.

The bird flew in front of him and landed on the cemetery wall.

‘I stopped the car and I don’t know why but I called the budgie Freddie.

He flew on to one of my windscreen wipers and when I got out of the car he moved away on to a nearby hedge,’ he said.

‘I wound down the window and before I knew it the budgie was on the steering wheel before flying on to my shoulder,’ he said.
