Navitas – launched earlier this year – specialises in installing private GSM telephone networks in remote locations, and JT reports that business is booming.
The new contract means that JT has installed networks on eight cruise ships which are used by some 7,000 passengers at any one time.
By the end of next year JT is aiming to expand to 10.
million passenger days on 30 ships, with JT and the cruise operators sharing the profits.
The Super Star Gemini is the second ship in Star Cruises’ fleet to have been equipped by the JT subsidiary – Navitas has already completed an installation on their flagship vessel, the Super Star Virgo.
A JT spokesman said: ‘They’ve got 22 ships in their fleet, so hopefully there will be more work in the offing.
At the moment we’re working on about a ship a month.
