Led by Deputy Paul Le Claire, the working party includes members of the public and other States Members, receiving input from Environment Scrutiny chairman Deputy Rob Duhamel.

The report, presented to all States Members today, calls for in-vessel composting sites to be installed at appropriate sites around the Island, as well as additional reception areas where the public could drop off their garden waste.

Deputy Le Claire said that during their talks with growers and other businesses it became apparent that a number of them were willing to operate in-vessel composting operations on their land.

This led to options involving the States purchasing the equipment and the companies running the operation, or the companies buying the equipment themselves to do the job.
