Ken Vibert, who has been Constable of St Ouen for 12 years and who chairs the Constables’ Committee, has welcomed the results and says Constables work harder now than they did when he was first elected.
Figures revealed by the Mori poll of just over 1,000 Islanders last week showed that: 68% of respondents said they knew about the Constables’ role, almost twice as many as knew about the Council of Ministers.
54% thought Constables should stay in the States and 35% thought they should go.
79% were interested in parish issues, more than the 75% who were interested in local politics.
