Mervyn Le Masurier, a former hotel manager and Highlands College teacher who won a national training award in 1997 for designing and introducing offshore finance qualifications to the Channel Islands, has set up Richmond Training & Consulting.

For the past six years Mr Le Masurier has worked as training manager for the Abacus group and before that was in charge of training at Ernst and Young.

He said: ‘The business is about training senior staff in people and client relationship management.

‘A lot of reports commissioned by the States point to the fact that businesses need to manage their people more effectively.

‘I think I can help in that respect by helping senior management develop their staff into committed, energetic and happy people who convey this energy and enthusiasm to their customers or clients in the form of excellent service.
