The service, run in collaboration with UK firm Mimecast, is designed to protect e-mail correspondence in order to comply with increasing regulation.

Mimecast Offshore’s data centre in Jersey provides a separate location for the encrypted transmission and storage of client e-mails and data.

Foreshore chief executive Chris Evans explained: ‘We’ve been doing business in Cayman for some years – we hit the news in 2004 after Hurricane Ivan, when a number of finance firms used our internet data hosting services.

It is our infrastructure in Jersey which is attractive to businesses in other locations.

‘People are becoming more concerned about private information remaining private.

Jersey’s legislation is very similar to that in other offshore locations, so they are comfortable with it.
