Transport ‘won’t report on Connex performance’

Transport Minister Guy de Faye told the States this week that the bus company bring out their own reports and there was no need for his department to do so this year.

But Deputy Roy Le Hérissier, who questioned Deputy de Faye in the States yesterday, said the Minister’s decision was ‘completely unacceptable.’ He said that the States lose over £2 million pounds subsidising Connex every year and there should be regular scrutiny of how much the service costs the company and how many people are using it.

‘This is incredible considering the vast amount of subsidies that the States pays to Connex.

We need more information about that subsidy and much more transparency,’ Deputy Le Herissier told the JEP today.

He added that relying on the operator’s own reports was a ‘very strange’ way of making sure they were doing their job properly.
