He was sentenced to life in prison by the Royal Court in 1994 after admitting murdering his parents Nicholas and Elizabeth Newall at their Clos de l’Atlantique home in St Brelade in 1987.

But reports in the national media that Newall could stand to inherit from his parents’ fortune have been rejected by the family’s Jersey lawyer.

Advocate David Le Quesne acted for both Roderick, now 41, and his brother Mark when they were sentenced by the Royal Court.

Mark (39) was jailed for six years after admitting helping to dispose of the bodies, but was released after 20 months.
