The Constables have agreed to sign a contract which would see parishes pay for new honorary police officers’ training in six modules.
St Ouen Constable Ken Vibert, the chairman of the Constables’ Committee, said the agreement would cost between £10,000 and £12,000 per year.
He said that was cheaper than the previous system, which saw an ex-police officer retained by Constables for between £15,000 and £16,000 per year to be responsible for training.
‘This training is going to be the same as, or the equivalent to, what the States of Jersey Police officers are having,’ said Mr Vibert.
