The new licences will carry photographs of the licence holder and could last for ten years rather than the current five.
Parish Constables agreed at their committee meeting yesterday that they would continue to be the driving licence authorities in the Island, but that the licences would be produced at the Town Hall.
The move will spell the end of folding pink and blue driving licences and a move towards the UK system.
