As the JEP reported last month, the Airport is adopting a new fare structure and advertising in various trade publications inviting airlines to consider flying between Jersey and 18 European destinations, including Nice, Faro and Stockholm.
The Airport has now set out some of the details of its new strategy.
Existing carriers will be offered a 50 per cent discount on landing fees if they start up extra flights on existing routes and a further 25 per cent discount if they manage to increase passenger numbers by ten per cent on an existing route which is also served by a competitor airline.
The Airport hope that its new strategy will allow it to act quickly when it receives offers of interest from airlines, which it expects will increase following the adverts, by being able to clearly state the financial incentives on offer.
The initiative has been broadly welcomed by the body representing the Island’s hotels, bars and restaurants.
