Health announced this week that from 15 November Islanders will no longer stay at the Manor House, which is just outside Southampton, when they go to receive radiotherapy.
Instead, they will be put up at a newly-built hotel belonging to the Jury’s Inn chain in the city centre.
Health chief executive Mike Pollard has defended the move.
He said: ‘The entire rationale for moving from Manor House was driven by the complaints we received over the years from people in Jersey.
There were many complaints that the accommodation was antiquated and inappropriate, even though it is in a nice location and the staff are wonderful.’
