One hundred people have signed a petition against plans to put up the mast, and a public meeting is being held at Grouville parish hall on Wednesday.

Organised by Adrian Le Gal and Derek Kirkham, the meeting will be chaired by the Constable, Dan Murphy.

Representatives from the Planning department and mobile operator Airtel will also be there.

Mr Le Gal lives at the top of Grouville Hill.

He said: ‘It is a 50 ft mast that would be visible from Noirmont.

‘These masts should not be in built-up areas.

. .

All these people say that there is no harm to people’s health, but the UK are apparently removing a lot of these masts from playgrounds.

‘It is all very well saying it’s safe now, but in 50 to 60 years time they may not think that.

They said that about smoking, that it did no damage to your health, and they have been proved wrong.

Let’s wait and see about these things.’
