Junior football: Wanderers open up a gap

Heavy rain had washed out half of the dozen matches scheduled, but Wanderers defeated St Peter 3-1 at the Hockey Club, where Jay Reid notched a brace and Alex Gee a single for the hosts, with James Banks replying.

Arthur Illingworth hit both Tower’s goals in a 2-2 draw at St Brelade, the hosts collecting their first point of the season with the first and last goals of the game from Jay Thompson.

Ben Cesar scored from 35 yards as St Martin/SCF defeated St Clement 6-4 at St Martin in Division II.

Steve Irvine (two), Jordan White, Chris Pirelli and a St Clement defender added further St Martin/SCF goals, with the visitors registering through Jason De Nobrega (two), Fabio De Jesus and Aaron Crowe.

St Paul’s moved to within a point of leaders Jersey Wanderers in the Under-16 Division I after winning 8-1 at St Peter.

Scott Welsh hit St Peter’s consolation as St Paul’s won with four goals from Daniel Tardivel, three by Tom Hébert and one by Dominic Pougelle.

First Tower moved up a place to fourth after Fabio Santos scored both their goals in a 2-1 win against Trinity at Les Quennevais.

Tower’s Under-14s and St Peter gained their first points of the season after drawing 1-1 at La Hague Manor in the afternoon.

Both the goals were cool side-foot finishes past the goalkeepers by Charlie Petulla and Conor Davies for Tower and St Peter respectively.
