Launched today, the scheme is aiming to crack down on the number of gangs on street corners and young law breakers who intimidate Islanders during the evenings and weekends.

The Your Child, Your Responsibility campaign is being backed by the States, the honorary police, the Youth Action Team, Building a Safer Society (BaSS) and Brook.

Its aim is to ask parents to take more notice of their children’s movements, find out who they are going out with and what time they will be home.

In his speech today, the Chief Officer of the States of Jersey Police, Graham Power, said: ‘The reason for this support is simple – because when it comes to asking parents to take responsibility for their child’s behaviour, it is an issue we cannot tackle alone.’
