It will raise the on-screen profile of the former St Paul’s football club player, who is halfway through a seven-week Working Lunch series on BBC2 focusing on Island life.
His next television venture will be the week-long programme, Extinct, which will be shown on ITV in December and has been devised with the help of conservation charity WWF.
It will be presented by Sir Trevor McDonald and Zoe Ball, and Graeme will be one of eight celebrities who will travel to the far corners of the globe to champion an endangered animal.
