Brian John Russell (72) reacted without emotion to the sentence handed down by the Royal Court yesterday after his defence lawyer had argued that a jail term might mean he spent the rest of his life behind bars.
‘There is no alternative to prison in this case,’ said Deputy Bailiff Michael Birt, announcing the sentence.
‘It is too serious to justify being dealt with by a non-custodial sentence.’ Russell pleaded guilty to six counts of indecently assaulting the girl between 11 March 2005 and 19 May 2006.
