You, Mr Constable, are the weakest link. Goodbye…

More than 220 people packed the Town Hall as nine Constables and three Chefs de Police battled it out before ‘Anne Robinson’, aka Cosmopolitan star Tony Murphy, who was a big success with the audience.

Nine Constables took part as well as Chefs de Police Tim Tindall, Nigel Crespel and Malcolm L’Amy, who represented St Lawrence, St Mary and St Peter.

The Constable of Trinity, John Gallichan, was voted the weakest link first after failing at the first hurdle by not being aware that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is the government agency responsible for registering and licensing motor vehicles in Britain.

But the two biggest howlers of the afternoon came from the Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, who told the questioner that 12 times nine was 84, and from Grouville Constable Dan Murphy, who said that the speed allowed in green lanes was 20 mph.
