No supermarket .at quarry site

The parish of St Helier received three ‘expressions of interest’ in a residential development at the quarry site by last week’s deadline, but none includes a supermarket.

Last year it was reported that Tesco were in talks over a £3m development on the former quarry site – but there was opposition from the district Deputies and residents.

Those talks came to nothing, and the parish went back out to developers to try to find a suitable project for the site, which is around the same size as the Dandara West Park apartments development.

St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft wants to meet the three prospective developers on 16 November before selecting a preferred scheme and taking it to a parish assembly to get the backing of parishioners.
