There were almost 10,400 signatures on the petition which National Trust for Jersey president Colin Smith gave to Senator Walker in readiness for the Council of Ministers discussion about the issue today.

Before that meeting started, Senator Walker said that there was an impressive number of signatures on the petition.

‘It must get and will get the Council’s very close attention,’ he said.

Last month, the States agreed that it would be in the public interest for Plémont to be preserved as open space for the enjoyment of the public.

They also agreed that the Council of Ministers should consider all options for the preservation of the Plémont site.
