The following day he will road test for Kurt Molleken’s KTR team.
He said: ‘I was in Barcelona last weekend to see what testing we could do in a World Series car and there was a lot of interest, which was good.
‘As Comtec won the championship, when they offered me the chance to road test for them they obviously became my first choice – if we can put together a package.
‘Basically, I’ve know that I need to move up from F3 since halfway through last season.
Driving a World Series car is physically more demanding than either Formula 3 or 1.
It’s more powerful, and there’s no power-assisted steering.
‘Since June I’ve been really working hard with a personal trainer in Oxford, to become fitter and to work on my neck.
I’ll also be doing a lot of fitness work through the winter.
‘It’s as expensive as Formula 3, but a more affordable package as a whole and I only had positive meetings with the teams in Barcelona.
They’ve seen me finish on podiums before and they know about the bad luck I’ve had, so things are looking quite good at the moment.
A lot will now depend on me getting to know the car.
I’m looking forward to it.’
