In silence and in song, the crowd remembered not only those who died during the world wars but also UK soldiers who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The huge turnout, believed by organisers to be a Remembrance Day record, not only saw hundreds of spectators at the Cenotaph, but a large number of veterans from both world wars and more recent conflicts.
Under blue skies, but with a chill in the air, the day began with march of veterans, led by the Band of the Island of Jersey, to the Cenotaph.
Once there, they took up position alongside units from the Island’s three cadet forces, representatives from the Royal British Legion and assembled dignitaries.
