Chicago Rock’s revamp

Parent company Luminar Leisure in the UK has appointed Nick Eubank as the nightspot’s new general manager in a shake-up which has seen former The Bar manager Heath Abbott promoted to oversee the group’s three Island waterfront premises – Chicago Rock, The Bar and Liquid/Envy.

James Craven is the new The Bar manager.

Mr Eubank, previously deputy manager of The Bar, said: ‘My goal is to get Chicago Rock back to where it was when it opened four years ago.

It used to be crowded but it has lost its focus and its reputation over the past 18 months.

It was a place that the 22 to 35-year-old market came to and enjoyed the party.

But we’re not getting the crowds any more.

‘We did a survey to try to find out where we were going wrong and the message was that the service had gone downhill, the food was not particularly good and that we’d got a younger crowd coming in.

‘The plan is to get the focus back, to get the service right and get the product right so we’re putting out the word that the Chicago Rock is the place to have a good time again.

One of the first things I did was to make Friday and Saturday nights for the over-20s only.
