Law firm Mourant has teamed up with the Jersey yachtsman, who recently won his class in the tough transatlantic race, to offer a fantastic lot in next month’s Charity Auction in aid of the Joint Charities Christmas Appeal.
Phil will take two people sailing around the Island on a day next year to be mutually agreed.
Phil’s choice of vessel will depend on his plans for future races, so it could be a high-performance ocean-going yacht.
Earlier this month Phil took first place in class 40 of the Route du Rhum race from St Malo to Guadeloupe, one of the most celebrated single-handed challenges in the yachting world.
Dame Ellen MacArthur was the previous winner of Phil’s monohull class.
Matthew Robins, director of marketing at Mourant, which is sponsoring the auction lot, said: ‘At Mourant we were following Phil’s progress in the Route du Rhum with great excitement as it became obvious that this young Jerseyman was looking likely to repeat the much-celebrated success of Ellen MacArthur, and we were delighted to hear of his victory.
‘Like Mourant, Phil is taking Jersey onto the world stage and we are proud to associate ourselves with him in sponsoring this exciting auction lot.’
