The audit process of Health and Social Services has been called into question after Janette Carole Aubert (44) took up to £600 at a time from the cash floats of Overdale, the Limes and Sandybrook residential homes while she worked as a finance assessment clerk.
Described in court as being ‘unable to derive pleasure from life,’ Aubert was said to have had an extremely difficult time, suffering a traumatic childhood, two violent marriages, the loss of a two-week-old baby, and most recently having to fight breast cancer.
But the Royal Court decided that this was no excuse for having stolen £127,123 over a period of ten years from the cash floats of the residential homes, as well as forging a cheque for £1,340.
