Jersey Wanderers FC under-15s have confirmed a visit to the Premiership club on 27 April next while plans are afoot to bring Chelsea Ladies to Jersey to play an Island side on the weekend of 14 and 15 April.
Jersey manager Kevin Miller said: ‘Discussions are continuing and if the Jersey Football Association can seal a Chelsea visit to Jersey then that would be fantastic opportunity for our footballers.
‘We don’t get many chances to play ladies’ games at representative level and I really hope it can be arranged.
‘The JFA are also looking at the possibility of the RAF playing in Jersey on the last weekend in April too and if that gets confirmed then they would be two good games for us in preparation for the Muratti and the Rhodes Island Games.
‘Guernsey are also bringing a side over on Saturday 16 December; that has been confirmed and it came about I believe as a result of Condor putting on an offer of a cheap ‘Christmas Shopping’ excursion to Jersey that day.’ Meanwhile Jersey Wanderers under-15s will play a Chelsea Academy side at Cobham next April.
Wanderers girls’ development officer Katrina Tannerhill said: ‘This has come about as the result of discussions between the JFA and Chelsea and we are delighted.
A booking has been made and we are already raising funds.
‘We raised £1,700 at a fund-raiser held at the Foresters Arms and we have other events organised to help us reach our target of £6,000.
‘We need that amount because we also have to purchase a new kit.
It’s the first time a girls’ team will represent the Island away and I know all the girls are really looking forward to it already.’ Wanderers girls have signed up to train twice a week in preparation.
They will be coached by level two coaches including boys’ Island under-18 coaches Dave Walsh and Dave Kennedy.
