A week-long festival of open skate sessions was launched at the waterfront on Friday night, including professional demonstrations on Saturday and a competition day on Sunday.
The Island’s first such skateboard event, sponsored by the Jersey Evening Post, is being held in a huge marquee on top of the waterfront car park.
It houses an enclosed purpose-built environment and has been created as a reflection of the popularity of skateboarding in Jersey.
For many years there has been a call for well-equipped and tailored facilities to cater for the young skate community and keep the practice off the streets in a safe and suitable environment.
