‘Give the vote to 16-year-olds’

Deputy Paul Le Claire has tabled a proposal to reduce the voting age from 18, which could allow another 1,800 potential voters to add their names to the electoral roll.

Pint of beer If the proposition is approved, teenagers would be allowed to vote before they are able to drink a pint of beer in a pub, buy a packet of cigarettes or drive a car.

Deputy Le Claire believes that following the decision in the Isle of Man in February to give 16-year-olds the vote, the Island should review its own position.
