Andrew Hobson was watching television at his home at Beaumont at around 10.30 pm on 9 August when he says that he heard shouting and swearing outside his property before a rubbish bin was kicked over.

He looked outside and saw Richard Miller, whom he went to confront.

Mr Hobson said he caught up with him on Beaumont Hill and put a hand on his arm before Mr Miller threw a punch at him and a scuffle broke out.

Mr Miller told the court that Mr Hobson had run up to him and bombarded him with punches and kicks in an unprovoked assault.

He denied damaging his property.
