Now there is a chance to purchase the old St Ouen nightspot which is currently known as Discovery Bay.
The building, which houses Big Vern’s Diner and Sands Surf and Sail, is for sale by tender, and owners Robert and Terry Doak are expecting it to fetch more than £3 million.
The future of Big Vern’s and the surf shop will be up to the new owners, but the Doak brothers say that they hope to see them stay.
The site was purchased by their father, Terry, in the early 1970s, after he saw it while on holiday in the Island.
‘He came over on holiday with Nottingham Forest player Ronnie Rees,’ Robert said.
‘Dad was a football player for Notts County.
‘They were staying at the St Brelade’s Bay Hotel and the Tropicana was empty, so Dad bought it.’
