Heroin users ‘not fit parents’

Carla Louise Pita (21), who admitted a breach of a binding over order, will now spend Christmas behind bars instead of with her four-year-old daughter.

Pita escaped prison last December when she pleaded guilty to possessing the class A drug with intent to supply and was given 80 hours’ community service.

But the court heard that she had twice since lapsed in her battle to conquer her heroin habit and had used ‘feeble excuses’ after missing community service appointments.

The Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, said: ‘We do not think that people who take heroin deserve or are fit to have custody of young children.’
