Head teacher Louise Warran said they were still waiting for planning permission but that everything was going smoothly so far.
‘We are all very excited about the plans and are looking forward to making our learning environment come to life,’ she said.
‘We hope to start the work late spring or early summer and it will probably be done in three phases over a year.’ The plans include a reception and administration area, which the primary school does not currently have as everything goes through the school’s secondary reception.
‘With the new reception we want to provide a new focal point to distinguish us from the main secondary school,’ said Mrs Warran.
If approved, a library will be built on a banked area at the rear of the school.
‘Currently the school’s 9,000 books are not well displayed.
They are all in the corridor, so a library is essential,’ said Mrs Warran.
