Staff at Alan Martin Wholesale, in St Ouen, believe a rival Christmas tree seller turned all their signs around on Saturday and sent customers in the wrong direction.
Director Rachel Reed says she has lost more than £1,000 on what should have been one of her busiest days of the year.
Last year, the farm shop and fruit and veg wholesaler won a Fair Play pat on the back for having the best-value Christmas trees in the Island.
However, the week after being featured in the JEP, they learned that someone had been phoning hotels and restaurants, including the Longueville Manor, saying that their produce was poisoned and should not be used at any cost.
Mrs Reed said: ‘I am just broken-hearted.
It is definitely someone trying to ruin my business.
They know that I am a widow on my own and they are trying to put me out of business.
‘I just feel absolutely gobsmacked to think there are people out there nasty enough to do this.
I just don’t understand it.
It’s just so nasty.’
