When Islanders are spending £400,000 or so on a home, they should be dealt with by professionals, the council said today.
Following 12 months of investigation into the proposed regulation of estate agents, they are recommending that estate agents should be trained, registered and watched over by an ombudsman.
Council chairman Deputy Alan Breckon said: ‘The residential property market is worth millions, and if people are looking to spend £400,000 on a new home there is no room for cowboys.’ Deputy Breckon said that they planned to put forward a number of proposals in the new year.
