Flybe sets date for flotation

The airline, which began life as Jersey European Airways in 1979, is still 82 per cent owned by the family of the late Island resident Jack Walker but they have made no secret of their intention to float the carrier at an appropriate time.

And Flybe’s chairman and chief executive, Jim French, has announced that that will happen in 2008 – a year later than expected because of the airline’s recent purchase of BA Connect.
