Liberty Wharf: Still no shops

SHOP spaces in the Liberty Wharf development at the former abattoir site have still not been leased out to anyone.

Letting agents Buckley & Co predicted that announcements would be made before Christmas, but no deals have yet been signed for the £30 million waterfront arcade.

However, director Simon Buckley has denied reports that some companies which had agreed to sign leases have pulled out. He said: ‘That is news to me. We don’t have everyone we have been talking to over the last two years, but there are still plenty of people talking to us.’

Mr Buckley added that his company was in advanced stages with a number of people. But they could not move further until they had signed up an ‘anchor’ store — a well known shop that would occupy the main space in the former abattoir.
