THOSE with questions about Christianity and faith are invited to explore these issues at a special dinner on Wednesday.
And for those that can’t make it or may be inspired at the dinner, a number of courses are being run in the Island, beginning this month, to discuss some of the fundamental questions of Christianity.
A number of local churches have joined together to organise the dinner at the Town Hall. The evening will be based on the principles of the Alpha course, which gives people the opportunity to explore Christianity in a relaxed setting.
Drinks and nibbles will be followed by dinner in the Assembly Rooms and a former picture editor at The Sunday Telegraph, Nigel Skelsey, will give an after-dinner speech about the dramatic impact an Alpha course had on his life.
There will also be an opportunity for people to sign up to one of the various Alpha courses starting in the Island this month.
The minister at St Mark’s Church, the Rev Martyn Shea, who has helped to organise the event, said that the evening would give people the opportunity to ask the questions and explore the issues of Christianity that they had always wanted to in an informal setting.
‘It will be a really relaxed and enjoyable dinner and a great opportunity for people to meet and explore some of the more important questions in life,’ he said. ‘People can ask the questions that they have always wanted to and it will be an opportunity to meet people from all kinds of backgrounds.’
And for people who may be inspired by the evening, there will be a chance for people to sign up to an Alpha course.
Alpha courses run for ten weeks, although Mr Shea, who has organised Alpha courses for ten years, said that people can give it a go for a week or two to see if they enjoy it.
