JERSEY will play a friendly against a Southampton Football Club XI at Springfield on Monday 9 February.
A 20-man squad and backroom staff will arrive in Jersey at lunchtime on the day of the game before returning late the following day.
In a pre-season interview with the JEP, the Championship club’s chairman Michael Wilde said that he was keen to get a Southampton side to play against Jersey and he has been true to his word. It is anticipated the squad will include Jerseyman Jack Boyle, who is on a contract with the Saints until the end of the season, as well as some first team players.
Southampton FC press officer Jordan Sibley said: ‘It is a Reserve-team fixture although it is likely to feature several first-team players. I’m not able to say exactly who will be travelling because the club only announced the fixture last night.
