FARMERS and Caesareans cricket clubs have merged and they will play under the name of Farmers Caesareans in the NatWest Weekend League.

The new club will turn out first and second teams in the Weekend League this summer together with continuing to play friendly matches against touring and local sides.

Farmers’ president Rob Perchard said: ‘Talks have been going on for a while and last night it was confirmed that the Farmers and Caesareans clubs while merge. The merger will strengthen and enhance both the playing and non-playing membership and with a good team of officials in place everyone is keen to see it work.

Former Caesareans president Dave Gascoyne said: ‘We see this as good move for Jersey cricket and look forward to welcoming new members, opposition teams and those who simply wish to watch cricket at the Farmers’ Field.’
