GUERNSEY’S Junior Club Select put their bodies on the line to end their long drought in the annual inter-island match.
In the face of a bitterly cold wind blowing straight from Russia into Foote’s Lane, Guernsey scored their first win over the JPromail JRA Select side in seven years in a simply brilliant game of rugby.
The home side had been 10-3 down at half-time before they pulled out all the stops in the second half to ensure there were wild scenes of celebration at the final whistle.
But the home side had to come from behind to win. Jersey imposed themselves on the proceedings when they scored after 15 minutes thanks to their lively scrum half Wayne Boschat, who went over in the corner after a quickly taken penalty.
