HAVING lost away to Old Albanians earlier in the season, Jersey Rugby Club deservedly beat them 37-5 in the return match at St Peter’s on Saturday.
Even the visitors’ coach, Bruce Millar, had no argument about a result which keeps the Island’s side in third place, pushing for possible promotion.
‘We had players out of position and we’ve had to introduce young players into the squad,’ Millar said. ‘Neither of our wingers normally play in that position and we didn’t have a tight-head prop, which showed in the scrum. But full marks to Jersey. They have a big pack and they’ve some very useful players. They deserved to win today.’
Jersey coach Ben Harvey echoed Millar’s words, recognising that the best team won, although he believes that Jersey are capable of raising their game still further.
