Miss Leading Ladies

IT seems that Islanders can’t get enough of fellas in frocks.

It was like a hero’s welcome when the old Cosmo’s stage producer and star turn, David Dale, returned to Jersey with his new show, Miss Leading Ladies, at the Arts Centre last night. A packed house was proof that Mr Dale attracted a fond fan base while at the Cosmo, and they turned up in force, probably hoping to relive a little of the old days.

It was a tall order, considering the difference between the Arts Centre’s prim theatrical setting and the bawdy and boozy nightclub that was the Cosmopolitan. The costumes were as glamorous, spangly and outrageous as ever, with sumptuous gowns and plenty of sparkle, and the audience were eager to be pleased.

As well as David, the show also starred Ceri Dupree, international drag artist and one of the top female impersonators in the country. He is also a very funny man/lady and his smutty stand-up interludes went down particularly well.
