One of the briefer sections of the draft plan deals with housing.
The declared aim is clear enough in that the section calls for the development of ‘sufficient housing appropriate to the needs of the population while protecting the environment’, but thereafter the details are sketchy.
The plan sets increasing home ownership and the development of affordable housing as desirable goals. It also says that ‘appropriate’ sites for new housing must be identified.
Rather less vaguely, it proposes upgrading older social housing to meet modern standards.
