From F J Le Moine.
I AM a survivor of the Occupation of Jersey and wish to add my views on the subject of celebrating Liberation Day.
It is impossible for me to describe the feelings of a lad of 17 on that amazing day of 9 May 1945.
All the descriptions and re-enactments will never be near the truth of the actual event.
Liberation Day is a memorial of the Occupation and of all those who suffered — and whether it is a public holiday or not is quite irrelevant.
